I disposed of both aircraft The 747 weighed in at 85 tons,,Dc8 at a mere 24 tons,,,sad really the dc8 being probably one of the last..:(

the DC8 i have seen was always parked at the southwest end of the run way in the fire training area, the body looked intact but was missing engines
this was from Oct 2007 to dec 2009, although sometimes she wasn’t there and then she would return again

Does this mean that the two a/c in question have at long last been broken up?

if these are the two aircraft, then they have been there for AGES, when i went there for work experience in 2005 they were already in the process of being dismantled! lol

i have been flying into Filton monthly for the past 2 years, and it has been sad to see the DC-8 loosing engines while parked at the fire simulation bay, when i first saw it she had 3 engines, but about 4 months ago when she was last out there i think there was possibly just 1 or none.
by the way did you know a DC-8 was the first airliner to break the sound barrier!

Presumably both MK Airlines? Were these two aircraft subject to liens by the airport for non-payment of parking charges?;)
