Doesn’t say who the lucky buyer is, but no doubt we’ll find out in due course.

I am not shure, if they will operate their aircraft so far away from home in future. If you see the guys from Seattle, they donˋt even leave the traffic circuit. But if you really want to see the aircraft, there is a good chance to take a tour through the museum every month.

Wonder if they could fly it over on the Merlin and send the DB over in a crate then do the show with the DB unit? It’s supposed to be a quick change power egg setup isn’t it? Personally I’d love to see the 262 and 163 glider!

At least $3000 (£2370) an hour for engine maintenance costs alone….seems hardly feasible. Someone has very deep pockets. No wonder an appearance at Legends is a rarity. .

Yes – the DMB engine only lasts 100 hours between the very expensive $300k+ rebuild, so your comment is very accurate !

They simply don´t have the capacity to keep all their aircraft flying. The 262 and the Flamingo is operational. The G-4 is under repair after the accident, the G-10 one is under restauration. If you see how many P51´s are flying in Germany without any problems, it becomes more an more obvious that it is only possible to operate a 109 with a Mercedes engine if there is a company or somebody else with LOTS of money in the background.

I don’t think any of the MBB aircraft have flown in a few years, have they?
By: Pulsar-xp - 22nd December 2018 at 00:54
Not really, FMBB is sold, but will stay in Germany.

…which makes 4 109s in their ownership. I’’d like to know about engine sourcing, servicing, and reliability. Some collection.

The G-12 is now oficially a part of the Messerschmitt Stiftung.

The visibility out of the front seat isnˋ t much better….
By: MFowler - 30th November 2018 at 23:24
Whoever bought it, doesn’t look like you can see much at all out of the second seat.
By: Pulsar-xp - 29th November 2018 at 20:01
IF this aircraft is REALLY sold within Germany, there are not too many choices. One would be the Messerschmitt Stiftung, which is the owner of three converted Hispanos. One of their representatives was a passenger in the second seat of the G 12 some weeks ago. Just a guess….

Hi All,
The sale is quite odd as when I do a trawl through various Faceache and web pages I.e.:- (Hanger10 Facebook) nothing was mentioned ? Unless it was meant to be kept quite until the article you provided ?
Geoff.
