I had my Dodge at the Washington Heritage Festival today, along with the NE Land, Sea and Air Museum display. Part way through the afternoon, two Spitfires came over, heading East towards Sunderland. They appeared to make two or three orbits in the region of Sunderland, before heading what looked like North or North East.
I looked on the BBMF website, but didn’t see anything in the area that they would be attending, and you don’t often get privately owned Spitfires coming this far North, unless there’s a show, and rarely in pairs.
Anyone know what it was all about?
It was a pleasant and welcome surprise!

Steve, if you ‘LIKE’ their Facebook page they give you a link to the coming weekend’s schedule, its has been very useful! I saw the Spitfires fly over RAF Church Fenton earlier in the day on Saturday, I must admit I thought it was the silver Mk IX and clipped Mk XVI but they were some distance away when I saw them (could hear them for many minutes after they’d passed!).

2 x BBMF Spitfires have landed at Newcastle for the night if that helps.
Better keep a good eye on them, I hope they’ll still be there in the morning.
