I was in my kitchen this afternoon at about 5:30, washing machine going full-pelt, all windows and doors closed when I heard that unmistakable thrum of a Merlin – or two as it happened.
Sadly it wasn’t one of the many flying Mosquitoes (!) but happily it *was* a pair of spitfires approaching from the East.
I live about a mile south east of Cambridge Airport and I assume that they were dropping in there for a re-fuel because about an hour later they reappeared, back over the house as though on a circuit after taking off and then headed off to the West again.
Did anyone else see them?

Both two seaters were doing a lot of flying together out of Dx yesterday afternoon and early evening, catching quite a few heavy showers in the process.
