Tyne on the Thames ~ 09Nov15

HMS Tyne(P281), a River-class offshore patrol vessel used for fishery protection duties, had spent the weekend tied up alongside HMS Belfast. At high tide just after mid-day on the Monday she slipped her moorings and steamed, or rather diesel fumed, her way towards London Bridge. That is where I should have been as it stopped mid river and with two small tugs, one pushing on the stern and one on the bow, was spun around on the spot to face the way it came. It diesel fumed past Belfast and with its horn sounding sailed through Tower Bridge and out towards the Thames Estuary.

It does look pretty rusty. By comparison I saw the French frigate Aquitaine in Leith port a few weeks back. It makes HMS Tyne look like a trawler!
