Before going to Old Warden yesterday I took the chance to get a few photos of Brazilian training ship NE Brasil, which was visiting London and moored up next to HMS Belfast.
The sun was directly in front of me and with the morning mist it was a bit of a handful to get any decent shots, but here are the best shots of the batch.

I just hope the guys he braved Duxford today get to see something, and that the show goes safely. As to PS Waverley I feel sorry for those who booked the trip on her today its blooming awful weather.

I decided against even going to London today, the rain has been so heavy all night and it still hasn’t stopped now. So my two aims for this weekend catching PS Waverley and Canberra XH134 on camera, never happened 🙁

That’s a Bummer Martin, would they let her out on the water if the weather is going to be rough?, I have recorded gusts today on my weather station of 70 MPH. Tomorrow seems to be the same, Pressure is still dropping.

Looking at the weather forecast tomorrow is lousy, so have decided not to bother with Duxford. I still may try for photo or 2 of PS Waverley and keep my feet dry too hopefully.

Martin. Fingers crossed, and I hope the weather is good enough for you to get one or two photos to Post on here. Knowing you, they are bound to be good.
P.S. Don’t fall off the bridge when trying to get the “killer shot”……:D

She looks lovely now Jim, I was/am hoping to catch her tomorrow if its not too bad to go to Duxford. She due through Tower Bridge around 10 in the morning.

Ahh P.S. Waverly, I went aboard her, and was shown around her by a Trinity House Officer, when she was moored up, at the T.Hse Mooring at Gt Yarmouth. She was badly in need of a full refit. Would have been nice, had you managed to get one or two photos of her to see what she looks like now.

I was hoping to catch PS Waverley going through Tower Bridge today, sadly the weather stopped me going at all.

Having been to South Mimms services, I can fully understand why they would be in the firing line 🙂
I would recommend to anyone to visit HMS Belfast and the Churchill war room(AKA The Cabinet of war rooms), HMS Belfast will always hold something special for me due to my grandad serving beside her on HMS Urchin providing support for the JUNO beach landings for D-day. He was a very quiet man in terms of his war record and my hero in so many ways.

Thanks Moggy for that Link. I have been to the one many yrs ago, in Portmouth, IIRC it had a crew of about 60 odd. My wife and I went on board, and I was gobsmacked to just see how little room there was inside. My wife has always wanted a larger kitchen, (Don’t they all?.) until we reached the Galley, and saw the smallest cooking unit ever, I have had Camping stoves larger than that. I made some sarcastic comment, and never head a mention of kitchens again. They deserved a medal, just for living in such cramped conditions.A very special lot of men, but weren’t they all?.

I am really glad they are appreciated, that means a lot really.
Also I can see how the U27 thing made you think Submarine Jim,cruel of me to post it like that eh.
What a Bummer, and I was thinking, “The last surviving German Sub”,of WW2. What an exhibit that would have been alongside HMS Victory 😀

I only found out this week that the guns of Belfast’s A and B turrets are accurately trained on South Mimms Services on the M25.

Thanks AGAIN Martin for posting, myself and many others on here would never had the chance to see them as you have shown. When I first saw your Post, U27, I though it was about Submarines………:)

Thanks for posting; I wondered what it was when I saw it on the TV the other day.
A British-designed (Vosper Thornycroft) ship; kind-of a half-sister to the Type 21 frigates, formerly of the Royal Navy but now the remaining six are part of the Pakistani Navy (two, HMS Ardent and HMS Antelope, having been sunk during the Falklands conflict). Powered by two Olympus gas-turbines (and cruising diesels).

I think the light and mist add to the photos 🙂
