U.S.A Second Amendment re-think

In view of what has happened to these, and indeed other School children, and many other incidents that have taken place, involving the use of Shotguns and Section 1 Firearms.do you think that any individual should be allowed to own seemingly as many weapons as they like?.in the U.S.A.
Personaly, I think the 2nd should be fine tuned, to allow anyone to own the minimum of weapons they REALY need, And all weapons be kept in a secure place within the owners property, or at a gun club, where they are secure.
Should they adopt the same rules and regs as we have here in the U.K.
The other week, I was watching a U.S.A. program where a family business purchased and sold, also traded weapons, and one chap brought to them a pristine GATLING gun he wanted to sell, need I say more?.
What are members views on gun ownership in the States?.

Jim.

Personally, I cannot imagine why FEMA would need to even carry firearms, let alone, need armoured personnel carriers for disaster relief.

The obvious answer is so that when disaster strikes, no one gets more than 1qt of water & a loaf of bread ;).. no wait, that doesn’t make any sense… 😀

I still don’t like the tone of Alex Jones

I don’t listen to him…

Sounds like bolloxs from those with an agenda to me 🙂

Anybody living in a civilised society who claims the need to carry a weapon to protect ones self is suffering from a strong inferiority complex.

(Or the supposed civilised society ain’t all that civil…)

Pretty low opinion ya have there of the armed forces…

http://www.infowars.com/uk-bans-self-defense-expert-from-entering-country/

“The UK government has banned self-defense expert and former US Navy Seal Tim Larkin from entering the country after Larkin planned to hold seminars instructing people how to protect themselves against rioters and criminals.

The only conclusion to draw from this is that the government wants its citizens to be weak, cowardly victims who are incapable of fighting back against any form of abuse or intimidation so that the state itself can continue to dominate and oppress a mentally castrated and domesticated population.”

The only conclusion? Look what IS happening in the United Kingdom (according to Info-Wars)…

DON’T let it happen in the United States!

…why would a domestic security agency need 2500+ APC’s & enough ammo to fight a war for 25 years?

Fair question. What agency; the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)?

To me, the United States always seems to have a high number of heavily-armed law-enforcement agencies anyway: huge numbers of local and state Police, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms (ATF), and of course the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Personally, I cannot imagine why FEMA would need to even carry firearms, let alone, need armoured personnel carriers for disaster relief.

I still don’t like the tone of Alex Jones and his Info-Wars media hysteria; what was all that nonsense about a ‘self-defence expert’ being banned from entering the United Kingdom? What is he insinuating; that because the United Kingdom has banned guns (it hasn’t) and now it has refused entry to an American self-defence expert this is evidence that the United Kingdom government is removing the ability of it citizens to defend themselves from government tyranny? Or is this just part of his near-hysterical and half-fact-filled message; put two-and-two together…..and get five-hundred?

Sorry to disappoint you Alex but following the (almost) complete ban on handguns in the United Kingdom in 1997, sixteen years ago, the United Kingdom government hasn’t rounded-up vast numbers of its citizens and incarcerated them in ‘internment camps’! 😉

Seriously, you seem a pretty bright guy…..do you really think this is what is happening?

ok, lets hear…. er read, your reasoning about why a domestic security agency would need 2500+ APC’s & enough ammo to fight a war for 25 years?

& this at a time when troops in Afghanistan are being forced to use blanks for training….because they say there is a shortage of live ammo…

They specifically list FEMA & the DHS.. both agencies which only operate in the Continental US…

They only operate legally within the United States…

…and as the world knows…..no United States government agency would ever overstep their jurisdiction. 😉

Apparently the United Nations are in on it too!

I’m surprised that nobody has mentioned that ‘resettlement’ was the nazi cover-phrase for the extermination of the Jews!

Seriously, you seem a pretty bright guy…..do you really think this is what is happening?

Those documents are all now over the web.. & if they were fake, the US Army wouldn’t be trying desperately to cover their ass (see 3rd link).

I’ll give you three options:

a) These documents are genuine and were drawn-up as a contingency for use in places where the US military is conducting, or may conduct, military operations (such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Egypt or Iran).

b) These documents are fake.

c) They’re coming for you now! Grab your gun and call out the militia!

I’m not reading all through them but do these documents actually say they are for use in the United States?

So is it 30% of the people who own a gun or 90%?

Among my friends & acquaintances (that runs into the hundreds), I can only think or 2 or 3 that don’t own a gun.

So I guess Rick, it’s the one or two of your friends who are in charge of the asylum;)

Good question.

The 90% refers to a local, not a national, statistic…..the NRA haven’t come into office just yet! :diablo:

So, how many United States citizens do own guns?

Easy! Take the number of guns sold and divide that number by the population of the United States and (bingo!) you have the percentage of gun-ownership!

Except that doesn’t account for people who have more than one gun. It doesn’t account for children. Are we talking about all guns or just legal guns? What sales figures do we use; guns are pretty durable so how far do we go back with sales figures? Do we count police and military in these figures? Are we talking about ‘gun-owners’, those with access to guns or households that have guns?

I suppose the real question is what do you want the answer to be? 😉

What percentage of them have used the gun or is it more of a placebo?.

*Used* in what context? when one of us suggests about going to the shooting range for a day, most of the local crowd will show up.. which used to include my kid:

One problem with requiring people to own a gun: It’s unconstitutional for the exact same reason that this Obamacare fiasco is.
