Anybody got any idea when this competition will have a winner chosen? I’ve been reading up on the two competitors, and I personally think the C-27J is the better airplane, though they both have pros and cons. From what I’ve read, the C-27 can carry more cargo, fly farther, and fly faster, yet at the same time it is more expensive to operate and the C-295 has a longer cargo bay.
I think the commonality with the C-130J (avionics and engines namely), the previous use of C-27A’s by the the U.S. armed forces, and the overall better speed, payload, and range capabilities mean the C-27J should be chosen, but I guess we won’t know until the winner is announced. What do you guys think?
