I agree that they are popular as well, but the fact that they don’t have any code-share agreements through AMS, would not justify them sending a 744. The 777 has enough capacity to send their pax whose desination terminates in Amsterdam.

half a year ago we still had a UA 763 at AMS on one of the two routes. I’ve heard the AMS routes are quite popular.

It had to a 733 or 735, Batboy. UA don’t operate the 734.

Peter, I see UA possibly using the 744 into FRA, given the fact that they used those on that route recently, plus it’s a Star hub with LH. But using them into AMS? I don’t know. When was the last time a UA 744 made an appearance there? They’ll probably stick with the 777. How long ago were UA 763’s seen there?

Will UA use their 744s on other European routes as well? AMS for instance or FRA?

I just did some research myself, and a few of those flights are indeed one-stops. UA0959 to DEN stops in ORD, UA935 to LAS stops in LAX, UA0919 to TPA stops in IAD, UA0931 to HNL and UA0955 to San Diego, both stop in SFO. I knew a few of those destinations sounded a little awkward as non-stops.

Ok, checked the TPA arrivals and departures listings(schelduled at least) and nothing mentions a 74 from UA. Still not sure what is up, but could it be a plane change at a larger airport and for some reason its coming up as “from TPA”? According to US’s website, changer overs are put at ORD or Dulles as the best options. Any ideas?

Interesting, TPA is my home airport and i heard nothing of these flights. I’ll try to find out why the UA is using the 74 to LHR.

Thanks for that info, Andrew. I’m going to take a look at that link. Those flights have to be charters, unless they started a regular service from Tampa. Anybody have any idea how long that LHR-HNL flight is, and if there are any stops involved?

There has been at least one UA 744 flight more or less everyday since the end of Novemeber, all from Tampa in Florida.

Good to see UA744s still coming into LHR. I flew on once into LHR from SFO in 2000 – great flight. 🙂
