Operating in a “challenging environment created by high fuel prices and soft domestic yields,” UAL Corp., parent of United Airlines, reported a $247 million net loss for the second quarter ended June 30, including $144 million in reorganization charges primarily consisting of noncash items caused by the rejection of aircraft leases.
