No, but the noise wouls happen if the blade breaks. Lika any manufactured object sometimes does when subjected to large forces (which is the case for windmill blades… )

Of course, the “believers” still better watch out for those black helicopters, just in case

And anyway, loud banging noises on a Sunday are quite possible, but I digress

Interesting to contrast the ‘UFO’ story:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lincolnshire/7817378.stm

With the way the story was originally reported:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lincolnshire/7811945.stm

Apparently one of the ‘UFO witnesses’ heard “a loud banging in the early hours of Sunday” and as we all know…

…loud banging noises wouldn’t be created if the blade just fell off!

If UFOs wanted to attack believers where it really hurts….

Comic book publishers would be gone…
All sci-fi video games would be erased…along with all prints of Star Trek, X-Files, Dr Who, Star Wars, Battlestar Gallactica…
crisps factories would be leveled…
and 35 year-old single guys would have to move out of their parents home.

😀

The BBC coverage of the story:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lincolnshire/7817378.stm

My theory would be that one blade became detached (or failed due to a manufacturing flaw) and while falling under the influence of gravity, and any momentum it had, hit the other blade, bending it…

…but then I’m not a UFO ‘expert’!

When the rep from the power company suggested on the radio interview it would have taken something the size and weight of a cow to do the damage, I immediately had visions of the Monty Python crew doing a remake of The Holy Grail…..

Its no secret the MoD (and Bae) hate the things…

I think the MOD don’t like them because of the number of spurious ‘targets’ that wind turbine blades generate for radar systems…

…can’t think of any reason why BAE Systems would be bothered?

Anyone thought that this might actually be the MoD testing to see what happens when an aircraft actually hits a wind turbine…?

Its no secret the MoD (and Bae) hate the things so this could have been a test…

.
How come it’s always Virgil or Billy Bob from the back woods of Kentucky that’s taken by the space critters??
And how come every time a picture of a UFO is shown it’s always blurry??

Where did it go? Well, first it fell on the ground…..and then it was taken away by the turbine operators for examination.

Ah, but that’s what they want you to believe…..

Have the villagers ganged up on the press with a made up story then?

I can’t explain the ‘lights in the sky’ aspect of the story but if a film crew showed up around here looking for somebody to go on national TV saying they’d seen an alien…

…I’d certainly volunteer. It would make the UFO enthusiasts very happy…..right up until the moment I said it was complete crap and I’d made the whole thing up.

The ‘missing’ turbine blade is missing…..missing from the turbine.

Yes, but only if you try really, really hard to ignore the facts.

I’m sure early reports of a ‘missing’ blade were…..er…..misinterpreted. 😉

Amazing REAL footage of the UFO flying into the Wind Turbine!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL-cRuYAxg0&feature=related

You can see that blade tip split in slo-mo.
But the one in Lincolnshire is a mystery. There is no sign of the wreckage!
Who was it on here that was after a blade? Thissuns a bit big though!
