These appeared during the display at Shoreham and, no, they were not the result of the pyrotechnics during the ‘attack on the airfield’

They were emitted during the display by the Pitts duo. just before the main smoke trails started.
Has anybody any idea what caused them?
They were about the same diameter as the smoke trail.

I wondered if they were vortices, shed by the a/c as they suddenly applied ‘g’ at the start of a manoeuvre, that had picked up some of the smoke. They were obviously intense and persisted for some time. Several others were formed at different points in the display before I decided to photograph them.

I noticed the smoke rings too, though they were more evident on the Saturday due to the blue sky.
They were formed from the smoke trial, and they were more failed vortice rings that didn’t make it. On those few times a smoke ring was formed they hung around for a goodly amount of time whilst the rest of the smoke drifted away…most odd.
In fact, I spent more time looking at this odd phenomena during the display than the planes 😮

Interesting, I didn’t see anything in my pic’s from saturday but I did get a few odd things in my Marham families day shots both years that I have been.
