Ugliest Aircraft

This may have been done before,….so apologies if so…..

but…all this talk about Gannets and Attackers led me to this

My ugliest aircraft list (in no particular order)

1./ Gannet
2./ Attacker
3./ Wyvern (well sorta)
4./ BV-141 (luftwaffe recon)
5./ Beverley (I love it but in ain’t pretty)
6./ Vickers Vildebeest

That’s all I can think of for now….

Whats everyone’s fav uglies ?

Cheers
Chris

“Eye of the beholder” etc.

And, being Irish, I have to be a bit supportive.

I actually like these flying Transit vans to be honest. I flew from Dublin to Sligo in an Aer Lingus Commuter one in 1987 and it was the most enjoyable airliner flight I’ve ever had.

Whatever – they all had the finesse of a 4 ton truck with wings

Oh come on! you can’t be serious, the A-6 Intruder-ugly? the metal tadpole was cute.

Nimrod AEW3 is a good point. I saw one display at Hatfield and it was a bit of a shock.

Or even worse, the Comet which was fitted with dummy AEW radomes as a display aircraft. I saw it at Farnborough in 1978. I think it was dubbed “Superconk” by the tabloid press.

So do I. Hackney Marshes. 😀

I’m with you Ken, the low back late mark Griffon Spits really don’t do it for me. Give me a beautiful Mk V any day. Perfection with wings on. 😀

As for ugly birds (ahem 😉 ), Nimrod AEW3 anyone….?

You’ll have to come up north to see one close-to – Museum of Transport in Glasgow has LA198 – another good reason for me to go to Glasgow (the other being my better half! :D)

That’s assuming I could be taught to fly an aeroplane, of course.

Daz climbs into his Spitfire 24 to find dhfan – well, he could if it wasn’t 1/48th scale! 😀

My esteemed colleague, I’m inclined to agree with you. Like a slimmed-down Gannet, methinks.

I’ll have another drink, barman, and maybe that psycho-Russki kite will end up looking like a Spitfire 😉

Was that PZL jet biplane ever used ?
Looks like it would have some outstanding flying qualities.

As for the Bychok, I reckon it actually doesn’t look half bad:)
