‘If it looks good, it is good’.
The Short Seamew was definitely not. The Gannet was a thing of beauty compared to it.
Saw a Seamew at Farnborough, so that gets my vote for pig-ugly!
(A pic of this plane would be useful if anyone can post it).
Anyone got a better one – or even uglier? 😉

Some of the suggestions are getting a bit silly now (trouble with a subjective thread), I would say most of the last few aircraft suggested are fairly decent looking bits of kit.
Individual taste I guess !

The “Ass-ender”; Yes, that contraption is so ugly it could make people blind.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this aircraft at all, I actually think it looks quite good!

Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (Arrow). Ugly

Regarding the Me 410; isn’t it a shame, that out of only two survivors, one is still awaiting restoration in the Paul E. Garber Storage Facility….
You would think there was some kind of priority on such a rare aircraft…
I can think of finer things I would like to see restored.:p

Surprised that no one has mentioned the Shackleton AEW3? We may like them but you could not describe one as pretty!

I can’t be the only one that thinks the Gannet is actually quite good looking.

May I suggest the Lloyd B.
Apparently an observer perched up in the raised nose, which I guess was a very fine place to observe things. However, this practicality is somewhat deminished by completely obstructing the pilots forward field of vision….well before the days of instrument landings.
PICTURE HOST DOWN..PLEASE WAIT!

This is also true. How about this then ? Curtiss-Wright XP-55 Ascender

I reckon that the Potez 75 must be up near the top of the list. Though I regret to have to say it about a French aircraft, I think that only its mother could view it as beautiful! But on reflection, perhaps it was more practical than pretty – maybe in the A-10 category!
…………and here’s an image of the Potez 75 ( courtesy of www.aviafrance.com) which does tend to suggest that the Americans were not first on the block when it came to the concept of the A-10!

When I saw this thread I instantly thought of the Potez 75.
For ugly aircraft, here’s a good place to start…………….

Ugly
Forget the rest, now this is what I call ugly!
They say that a Camel is a horse designed by a committee.
I reckon the fuselage committee, the engines committee and the wings commitee were not on speaking terms when they designed this one.
The name of this one escapes me. It is at the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson Airbase in the US.

I like the Hurricane, but from the rear quarter view I don’t find it appealing. All other views I think it looks pretty good. (As much as I hate to admit it, I think the Spitfire looks good from any angle.)
The Grumman Mohawk in my opinion is the type of plane that only it’s mother could love.http://www.warbirdalley.com/ov1.htm
