Had to laugh when I heard this on the radio, several scientists reckon that the bird died in scandinavia and got washed up on scottish shores – would be funny if this could be proved to be the case,

It was a Whooper Swan ie , a species that only winters in the UK

Ah, but perhaps it was a native mute swan who’d been holidaying in Scandinavia, had a case of the sneezes, thought it might be H5N1 but didn’t have a valid E111 card so thought they’d try and make it back home for treatment with the NHS….
Wozza. Suggest you check the dictionary definition of hoax, unless you think the swan died on purpose just for a bit of a laugh?
If H5N1 does get here and take a hold on the bird population it will be no joke. If it does manage to crossover into the human population it will be even less of a joke, especially for the poor sods who catch it, particularly those vulnerable due to their age or preexisting medical conditions.

Well it does seem odd that last week they were describing it as a native mute swan, and then yesterday my husband heard a report that they couldn’t decide which species it was! :confused:
