UK TV heads-up. Midsomer Murders 5th Feb 2014

I think this may well have a high wince factor, but should feature some nice flying filming from and of the RV8 display team, assuming it hasn’t all ended on the cutting room floor.

As I said in my thread which you closed on “General Aviation” which is probably where this one should be.

No real point. Midsomer is light fantasy and will never be greatly improved by hyper-accuracy.

If I had to make one improvement it would have been that substituting the word ‘oil’ for ‘fuel’ when the ‘fuel line to the engine has been cut’ discovery was made would have added just the tiniest bit of credibility for a very minor change.

But then I guess they would have had to film a dead-stick landing.

It was fine for what it was and swelled the coffers at East Kirkby just a little bit. Who knows, it might also have brought the ATA to the attention of some who were not aware of their great work 1939>1945.

Bloody missed it.

Worry not. Two hours can be spent in so many ways better than that.

To call the plot clunky is disrespectful to a clunky thing. Every time they attempted any dramatic event with aeroplane content it was laughably bad, such as the ludicrous sequence of a Super Cub upping the murder count by chasing a runner across a field and bashing him with the starboard tyre. If he is stupid enough to stay on his feet he deserves a good whacking !

Nice to see Bernard Cribbins and June Whitfield giving their all, but it was beyond saving. A right load of cobblers.

Well basically it was Midsomer with added aviation. Scares the daylights out of me now I have seen what happens to an RV if the fuel runs out.

But 434 and 611 on peak time TV is better than chavball by a long way.

Where was that CWGC at the end?

Is MH434 a Mk2 or a Mk9?

This is also filmed at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre with Avro Lancaster NX611 ‘Just Jane’. One of the characters is an ATA pilot and delivers NX to East Kirkby. However I was the pilot so I had to try and look feminine, not my finest hour!

I would guess that 50% of the population have now been murdered in some weird ceremony by now.
There seems to be an influx of detective type things where it seems to be a competition on the most imaginative way to kill someone and trace the killer.

Well at least he has got a dog with character instead of a dippy daughter!

You are not wrong.

Spotted a black actor in the episode a couple of weeks back, Midsomer moves on – I put it down to the new Barnaby being a retired sky-god

That’s interesting. The bulk of the aviation stuff was filmed at White Waltham. I wonder how they’ll integrate the two?

Partly filmed at East Kirkby so expect Just Jane to make an appearance 🙂

Bump.

Seen the advert twice this evening – some Spitfire footage in the programme, as well as more modern light aircraft.
