Ukraine deploys Gayducks to deter Russia

Ukraine has deployed two stealth frigates, “Gayduck”, as the crisis in the Crimea continues to escalate. The Gayduck will be deployed to the east of the Crimea in a move seen as allowing the Ukrainian navy to penetrate Russian forces from the rear.

Ukrainian and Western officials for weeks have voiced alarm about Russia’s reported military buildup on Ukraine’s eastern border, which has raised fears that Russian troops would enter the Ukrainian mainland. Russia may have 40,000 troops near its border with eastern Ukraine and another 25,000 inland on alert and prepared to go in, two U.S. officials have told CNN.

Moscow has said it had no intention of ordering armed forces to cross over into its neighbor, insisting its troops have been conducting exercises. But Putin has said Russia reserves the right to protect ethnic Russians in Ukraine from what he calls threats from Ukrainian nationals — a reasoning he also used in this month’s annexation of Crimea

“What is going on now in Russia contradicts its place in the world,” said Anton Krasovsky, a television anchor who was immediately fired from his job at the government-controlled KontrTV network in January after he announced during a live broadcast that he is gay, saying he was fed up with lying about his life and offended by the legislation.

Few gay people in Russia openly acknowledge their sexual orientation, and those who do are often harassed. When some gay people protested the propaganda law by kissing outside the State Duma, the lower house of Parliament, police officers stood by and watched as the demonstrators were doused with water and beaten by antigay and religious supporters of the bill.

An overwhelming 88 percent of Russians support the gay propaganda ban, according to a survey conducted in June by the All-Russian Public Opinion Center. A survey conducted in April by the Levada Center found that 35 percent of Russians believed that homosexuality was a disease and 43 percent believed that it was a bad habit, a result of poor parenting or a lack of discipline, or a symptom of abuse.

Same user posting “smart” April jokes both in this forum and in Military Aviation. Supposedly he was born on the 1st of April, seen his enthusiasm in this kind of things, but IMHO he has to impreve his skills on the matter, hopefully not trying to practice here in the meantime.
