Ukraine, Russia complete assembly of first An-148 plane
KIEV, October 15 (Itar-Tass) – Enterprises of Ukraine and Russia have completed the assembly of the first An-148 aircraft that has been underway for about two years.
The ceremony of the plane’s rolling out and its handover for flight and certification tests will be held on Friday.
The number of orders placed by Russian and Ukrainian air carriers for An-148 has reached 70. In money terms they exceed a sum of one billion U.S. dollars.
It is planned to produce five planes of this make in 2006, in 2007 – 12 and in 2008 – 24.
The aircraft costs around 18 million U.S. dollars.
The An-148 plane is designed to carry up to 80 passengers to a distance of up to 5,100 kilometres at a speed of 870 kilometres per hour.
The plane will be assembled at Kiev and Voronezh plants.

I guess both nations are making the best of the manufacturing infrastructure and expertise left after the Soviet Union.

K good news, But for the Russians it would be better off concentrating and putting money on their products rather than on Ukranians product
and ere some pic … the first one being the An-148 and others the An-140 which is a Joint Ukranian – Iranian one …. and Iranians inted to have several versions of that including, marine patrol, air-borne warning and others include tye primary intended transport

Thats good news…if they market this aircraft well it can do well in Asia.
