Ukranian disaster

Terrible news. I have just seem in the news the image of the Ukranian fighter crashing and killing at least 70 people, most of them children. It´s quite clear that this happens too often. The people too close to the flying zone, extreme conditions for planes and sometimes too much guts. I am deeply impressed since yesterday there was a air show over here by the “Patrulla Aguila” from the Spanish Air Force (like the Red Arrows) using seven C101 aviojet and making incredible manouvers. I was a bit affraid, since they overflew a mountain where we the public were. In the final looping with stall and up again we could almost see the dental fillings of the pilots….too close and really scarrying. Should one had fallen, it would have produced the same toll.

RE: Ukranian disaster

Today another Su-27 crashed in Ukrain.

Also an Ilushin has crashed near Moscow, killing 14 people.

Actually Geforce, while the death toll here was a bit higher I don’t believe it is 25 higher. In the German show I believe around 70 were killed as opposed to 78 here (thus far anyway). Around 115 were injured at this one while around 400 were injured at the German show. It’s really a moot point though I suppose because both were horrible accidents.

As far as the type of Su-27 involved, it was definitely an Su-27UB two-seater trainer model.

RE: Ukranian disaster

The lastest video I have just recorded (and will watch many times) does seem to suggest engine failure. The engines were smokey as the Su-27 came out of the dive which suggests FMP (Full military Power – or thrust), but then as she started to level out the pilot would have realised then how LOW they were, and so could he have then hit the throttle to full AB to climb out – quickly – and possibly caused a flame-out? The smoke from the engines does appear to vanish as the jet approached the ground. I agree though, definitely TOO LOW anyway.

From what I saw on TV – he did one spiral too many and could not pull up in time, his wing went into the ground first and the plane draggged on for a while before the fuel tanks caught a light – Pilot eror for sure. Terrible !!

Holy Hell! I didn’t things could get worse than Rammstein in `88 when the Tri-color jets collided. S%#T, this is just herendous! The pictures are like those from a war zone.

They say two pilots, so I am assuming it was an Su-27UB. Do they not practise tight air corridor controls over there with airshows, or what this just an awful accident?

Regards, a-very-sorry Glenn.

RE: Ukranian disaster

Yeah at least 25 more people were killed than at Rammstein, making it the biggest disaster in aviations-history.
