Ulster's Phantom makes it from Leuchars

That’s sad, I did my last ATC summer camp at Leuchars in the mid-late 1990’s. It was one of the best I went on, with Tornadoes taking off all day. At least it is still in use in some form.

Good news on the F4 though.

Leuchars is now the relief landing ground for Lossiemouth. And there were Typhoons doing circuits/overshoots at least once last week. And they have a small amount of RAF staff staying behind as are the UAS.

Yes congrats on a great job to UAS and I’m happy that the Phantom has been saved though find it sad that another connection to Scotland’s aviation history has left. Leuchars itself is looking pretty empty and run down and the army diggers/tractors around the place probably don’t bode well but at least the Tornado is meant to be remaining in place on the gate and the WW1 hangar being blue-plaqued should give it some protection.
