I can’t understand the excitement, surely sunken aircraft aren’t that rare, especially TBF/TBMs.
Fifteen or so years ago, Steve Irwin dove on a remarkably preserved Corsair…he made it sound like a new find. The photos showed a closed canopy…indicating the pilot may not have gotten out. I emailed his production company and suggested they inform the authorities in case it was a new find. Of course I never received a reply.
