Notice the catch / lock, is operated from outside, not aircraft me thinks, first impression is a removable inspection panel from food processing machinery, my weird side says explosion door from 1936 portaloo ? Keith.

Alan – did you ever find out which aircraft your mystery hinged covers came from? Did you send a pic to Roger Marley – if they are tiffy he would be able to say.
Nope, and Iain is having an equally hard time remembering, too! I don’t have Roger’s email addy, would you mind p.m.ing me?
Maybe it’s off a motorcycle sidecar.
Bubble car?
Thought of both of those, too. How about an escape hatch from a Heinkel? (bubble car) 🙂

also note the barrel lock and hasp at the forward edge……distinctly not aircraft regulation

Agreed. Way too flimsy looking for an aircraft hatch.
I’m guessing 1950/60s, domestic/automotive/agricultural origin.
Something off an old caravan, maybe?

Thanks guys might send him a note

There is no way this item was an aircraft canopy, or part of one.
The craftmanship and construction is way below standard.
A caravan or something. Maybe air field related, but not a flyer.

the fittings are not very sturdy to withstand high speeds I would think. Of course it’s Lancaster of Spitfire, take your pick:D
Cheers
