The excellent Parham airfield tower museum have an exhibit that they need identified.
It was trawled up off of Lowestoft and donated to the museum some time ago, but they still have no idea what it is from.
The taper of the blade looks strangely familiar to me but I certainly cannot think offhand from what!
Over to the collective hive……

Just to say thanks everyone, if you do nail it down to a Blenheim, what losses of the type are known to have taken place off Lowestoft?

I’m fairly positive that it would have been an anti-clock (left) rotation, but then again I’m no expert:o

Blade info
I’ll have a trawl around and see what I can find out.
Did you manage to work out which way it rotated?
I’m thinking possibly Blenheim now – if the rotation’s correct. It’s quite a short blade and at 5 ft definitely sub-1000hp.
Anon.

I have finally heard back from one of the museum staff on the length of this blade.
It measures 60 inches from tip to base, and with a width of 9 inches at the widest part of the blade. No numbers are visible due to corrosion.
Is this enough to nail the ident down?

The profile looks very similar to those we dug up at Stenhousemuir many moons ago…I think it was 1979. I was just out of short trousers, then, although I became relatively familiar with those blades for a good few years.
