Unimpressed with bmi

Travelled from LHR-NAP with bmi on the 22nd- old service- and then back on the 5th- new service. The old way was as I expected; punctual, friendly & attentive crew, simple but good food. The new way however was far less impressive. The flight left NAP an hour late, the crew were unhelpful and didn’t seem to know what they were doing- it took half the flight (1hr15) just to get the food trolley down the length of the plane because the crew didn’t know how to use the little till machine properly, and one member of crew could hardly speak english, only Spanish, even though thier wasn’t a single Spaniard on the plane (as far as I could see or hear in departure lounge). Then, for all the new menus and stuff, they didn’t have any of the salads or sandwiches, so the nearest thing to a meal was a tiny, overpriced tub of Del Monte fruit salad, or crisps. The shopping trolley didn’t come down the plane in the end becuase they ran out of time and many seatbacks didn’t have any magazines in them. To make things worse, when we touched down at LHR we were left waiting 40 minutes becuase another aircraft had taken our berth, although that wasn’t really related to bmi itself, it added to the frustration of the flight. Very disappointed the way bmi have chosen to go, and I expect them to lose alot of passengers to BA.

*btw, despite what they say, self check in actually takes longer, becuase you still have to queue at check in
