Hi guys,
Well I am just back from the big apple. What a great time that was.
I flew out on United flight 907 a Boeing 777. First time I have been in one. Was pretty impressed even though the flight was packed to bursting. It started of with the Captain who was retiring after that flight so all his family was on board. On our way to the runway for take off the Captain was giving a great send of by Heathrow firefighters with the customary hose down. I just wish I had my camera with me to take the pics. Its a sight I will cherrish for a long time. Take of was fine as was the whole 6hr 10 minute flight. Not one bit of turbulance at all. The cabin crew were one of the best I have seen. So polite and always round offering drinks etc. As I was at the rear in the middle seat space was tight, useual econnemy standards. Landing was great as you would expect as the captain was getting ribbed by his first officer through out the flight telling us to let the captain know if anything was not 1st class as it was his last flight.
Flight 906 back from Newark to London was empty. Approx about 80-100 passengers again a 777. We were moved upto econnemy plus which ment more leg room. Take was smooth but the weather was a bit bouncy for most of the flight. After take off the main meal was served then I grabbed a middle row and just stretched out there for most of the flight. Again cabin crew was top notch could not be faulted for anything. Landing was smooth unlike the landing from Heathrow to Edin by BMi where I thought this thing had went through the tarmac.
Anyway just my experience with United and hopefully one day I will get to fly with them again.

A good cheerful report there Selsport. I’m glad you had a couple of good flights. The Water Cannon salute must have been a great sight!
Cheers.

Good to hear you enjoyed it. As you more than likely know, I flew United in November from Heathrow to New York (only this time, it was JFK).
We flew UA905 and UA976 operated by 777-200 (N774UA) and 767-300 (N647UA). Like you, it was my first flight aboard a 777 and I was very impressed. Some on the forum asked if a 2-5-2 seating configuration in their economy cabin was a bit of sqyeeze, but I thought it was very spacious and the leg room was a dream compared to the charter airlines I more frequently fly.
