Unknown exhaust part

I have been sent some photos of an exhaust part thought to be from an aircraft.

Can any of you identify which engine type it belongs to as I haven’t seen an exhaust like this.

…and not frighten the passengers, glowing ‘cherry red’ at night. 🙂

Hi Mark

That point comes up from time to time regarding these ejectors, as does the question of the visible exhaust flame.
The official line from Rolls-Royce according to the manuals is noise reduction.

There are a few Heritage Trust members who were involved with it, so I will see what they reckon.

Thanks everyone for the identification of the part.

I had just received an e-mail with the part numbers that are on it but not necessary now.

Correct, it`s part of the crossover exhaust system which was introduced in an attempt to carry some of the noise away from the cabin!

Is it part of an Argonaut exhaust system?

Whoever owned it back in 2004 e-mailed me to ask what it was, I still have the photos he sent me.
He said it was obtained from a factory called W&G Sissons when it closed down.

I had thought that RR is possible, having spotted the flange has the same stud pattern as some RR engines.

Just to give some background, this part was found while clearing a property in Derbyshire following a death and the former owner had been known for collecting all sorts of things.

That exhaust flange looks to have a strong family resemblance to the Merlin, so possibly from an RR engine.
