Hi, can anyone please identify this gyro device we have in our museum collection.
I assume it is a gyro compass as there is a mechanism to apply torque to the gimbaled mass by ‘nudging’ the spinning axis against cork inserts in the gimbal rings.
The two external levers move an insulated segment which has two contact areas presumably allowing an external mechanical setting of the ‘zero’ points for both X and Y axis.
However there is nothing I can recognise as a sender to drive remote compass indicators?
There is no makers or other marks that I can find anywhere.

The centre gyro looks very similar to piece I rescued from my ATC museum. It was from a US Navy liberator/ PB4Y-1 which crashed in the Brecon Beacons. I’ll try and find a picture but I think it went to the museum at Dunkeswell where it flew from. Tenuous but a start!
