A work colleague has this brass casing that he picked up at a car boot a long time a go.
The aircraft looks like a Sea Plane with ‘5-2-9’ on the rear fuselage and the word ‘Victory’ and ‘1918-A.E.F’ and a name ‘Cpl Russell E Nane’ ?
Its about 8-9cm high.
Any help to identify the history of it would be much appreciated.

You have a WWI French Model 1885 37mm cartridge case made by Pouderies de Paris (P.D.P) in September 1917. (If that’s a ‘9 17’ in the bottom right) I believe the ‘AEF’ stands for ‘American Expeditionary Force’.
Thanks for the information.
