Unusual Paint Jobs

There must be loads of piccies around of unusual paint jobs on vintage aircraft, here is one I took about 10 years ago of a DC-3 at Ipswich Airport, not a good scan but it will do for starters……….

Not quite vintage, but nevertheless I am sure it would be appreciated by our friends across the pond . . .

The DC-3 is currently being inspected and a list formulated of what’s missing
(badly damaged). So far its looking like the following : port wingtip, rudder, port wing . I hasten to add that the port wing isn’t the one that was fitted to her originally. When a C47 at Elstree had a AA-5 fast taxy/fly into it the wings were swopped. he wing at Aeroventure is severly damaged and the search is on for another.
The DC-3 could progress quite quickly – it’s a matter of funds like all small groups !

A sheme that was a bit different in the past was that used on G-FIRE and G-FURY or other planes owned by Spencer Flack.

So I think they are worth to be mentioned in this tread.

Who, me? My best guess is it is the personal scheme of Cruella De Vil 🙂

Or perhaps Gerald Durrell…

I don’t quite know the history of this O-1’s paint scheme that I took a pic of at Wanaka 2004.
Perhaps Dave H might know ’bout this

Cheers

Poor old aircraft (and airport come to that) maybe David Burke can update us as to her progress back to health.

Well it would have been if I’d pressed the right button!
