unusual visitor to the south coast

Whilst lounging on the sofa getting over flu I heard some throaty engines and quickly looked out to see a 3 engined aircraft go right over my house ,from the quick look I got It looked like a JU 52 but Im not sure, anyway over the next few hours it went backwards and forwards along the coast here in hove at least 3 times, I imagine it came from Shoreham ,does anyone know what it was and what it was doing down here.
