Hi everyone
We had a great day out in the sun today – and have finally put on display our Desoutter for the very first time, even though it has been in the Museum collection since the 1960’s.
A pic below, the engine is to return soon as well. Interesting to note that this is one of just three left of this type in the world.
Cheers

Deoutter
I thought you might like to see the Moorabbin Desoutter when it was first acqired in the late 1960’s. It certainly looks different today.

The Desoutter was one of a number of aircraft that were locked away for years because the museum had no undercover display space. It’s nice to see them emerging from the shadows and going on public display.

I remember the Tasmanian one when it was hanging from the ceiling in Launceston airport.

thought Shuttleworth’s was the only survivor! Lovely job!
In case you’re wondering where the third one is – VH-UEE at the Queen Victoria museum in Launceston, Tasmania

What would you think about this? It is a picture of a Koolhoven FK-41 after a landing mishap at Surabaya in the former Neth East Indies
Desoutters and Koolhovens were one and the same I think?
The picture comes from an album owned by the late aunt of a friend

Hi Civil Aero
The Swallow is still under restoration at another facility. It slowed down a bit last year after the sudden death of one of the restorers, but it is moving along again.
Still many many things to sort out so you never know what sort of treasures are going to pop up !
Regards
Ewan

That looks great Ewan, thank for posting the photo, is that the Gipsy behind? What news on the Swallow…? I have VH-UKS in the shed, wings and engine in, starting to look good ( Very Large aircraft. ) Keep up the good work on the civil aeroplanes.
