Just got an e-mail form a well known airfield under the Heathrow boundary, that due to factors beyond anyone’s control, turbulence in the global markets, blah, blah blah AVGAs rises from £1.35 to £1.45 per litre (inc) .
The fuel supplement on hiring the club A/C is now £16 per hour, making a Super Cub (for instance) £176 per hour !!
Not a problem though, since the government has assured us that inflation is only running at 2%.
It wont be long before we are all bungee launching in gliders from the nearest hill.

I think the Oil Sheikhs are worried there won’t be enough money to buy their expensive oil, what with the money crisis and all, so they’re dropping the price!
There is less demand for the oil because of the global recession.

It’s hovering around $5 USD and above per gallon where I live. You can still rent a Cessna 172 for about $115 an hour… wet. Actually, I know of a small airport where I can rent it for $85/hr.
I can’t believe that a Super CUB is so expensive there! Sure makes me grateful for the planes I’m flying.

Oil is now about $75 barrel.

White Waltham have dropped Avgas by 3p this week to £1.69 litre (INC), whilst the supermarkets have just dropped unleaded to £0.99p litre.
I have never seen the differential so large ( or offensive)

The hourly rate for the Remos G3/600 I rent here in Germany has increased from € 90,- to € 103,- per hour (wet) in less than 24 months. And that’s at a consumption of approx. 15 l (MOGAS) per hour…..

I would estimate that the ‘things’ I am compelled to buy for day-to-day living have probably risen by maybe 8% in the last twelve month.
There’s too much month at the end of the money…..

RPI=4.2%
and you’ll notice an upward trend
Anyway, back to flying… 🙁
By: BlueRobin - 4th December 2007 at 17:26
You’ll find that RPI is sky-high. The Tories used the RPI inflationary index and set a limit of 2.5% iirc.
Oil was about $99 a barrel the other week but has come down to 80-something.
Why has fuel charges anyway? It can only ever go up in the long-term
