Arrest over poppy tin theft in Bristol

A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a Royal British Legion poppy tin.

CCTV captured a man in a hardware store on Gloucester Road in Horfield, Bristol, on 9 November.

He used wire cutters to remove the tin from the counter and put it in his jacket before leaving the shop. The police and the Royal British Legion appealed for information.

A police spokesman said a 29-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday.

He remains in police custody, the spokesman added.

What if Batman had caught him in the act? 😀

He would have learned that ‘Robin’ is no way to make a living.

He wasn’t physically caught in the act but, what if you had spotted him and was between him and the door.

“What ifs” are pretty meaningless. What if Batman had caught him in the act? 😀

Hang on a mo….

Despite prognostications to the contrary, this scumbag has now been identified, arrested, tried and sentenced for his crime.

That’s the rule of law, and it’s one of the things that those we venerate on Armistice Day fought and died to preserve.

Now I’m sure that, like me, you all find what he did utterly reprehensible BUT no one was held at knifepoint, no blood was spilled, no-one was injured, no-one was killed.

On the grand scale of things it was a rather squalid petty little crime, if the truth be told.

Anyway, this pathetic excuse for a man doesn’t merit a second’s further thought from any of us.

Meaning he’ll be out in 2 months or less, having enjoyed the comforts of prison life at our expense. Has he paid the compensation? Does he have the means to? He’ll no doubt have to rob to pay it, just as he, no doubt, robs to pay for his drugs.

For a case such as this I hope they manage to unearth one from somewhere…

Or perhaps just a realist….;) Not many “flog’em, hang’em” magistrates left, are there?

What a defeatist attitude!

You never know, the Magistrate might be ex-Military. 😉
