I remember reading a good number of years back about an Israeli (I think it was IAI)/Ukrainian (odessa Army Service) upgrade of the L-39C, destined first and foremost for the Ukrainian AF.
I can’t recall the details, but the small picture in the article stuck in my mind. I’ve recently found it here:

The only apparent exterior modification is the addition of what seems to be the 12,7 mm gun pod of the early MiG-21 trainers.
Does aybody know more about the details of this upgrade? Other equipment installed/replaced, fate of the aircraft, why it never made it – probably lack of money – or interest?
