Upkeep trials & French Navy Wellingtons

Good morning all,

I am looking for photos of the ‘Upkeep’ trials Wellington BJ895 and have drawn a blank eveyrwhere I have tried so far. I have asked the obvious choice of Brooklands but they do not have any, neither does the Imperial War museum apart from one close up of two weapons in the bomb bay.

I also need a nice shot or two of an Aeronavale Wellington.

Any offers or clues gratefully received.

Thanks

Hi Steve.
I have no details of the photo, but it’s been in the public domain for some time. 55S was a training squadron. specialising in multi-engine conversion. They were based at Port Liautey from 1948-50. Then at Agadir from 1950-61. I should guess the photo was taken at Agadir, ca 1950.

Collis – LP704 was ‘Armée de l’Air’ (French Air Force)

Many thanks for the replies; I will try Le Bourget, but Hendon has nothing.

Flyingant, that is a very nice Aeronavale shot, but do you have any idea of its origin?

Have a look here for an Aéronavale Wellington.

Have you tried the Department of Research at the RAF Museum? I would have thought that would have been your first port of call. Try the Musee de l’Air at Le Bourget for Aeronavale Wellingtons.
