It might depend as to where on the site members are uploading to. So far I have only uploaded to my profile album, which I uploaded straight from pc (these photos have to be resized to 97kb max or smaller). I do have a Flickr account for when I post to threads which I will do some time soon.

Thanks, Moggy – I should have written Picasa Web Albums, not just Picasa. So it looks athough I am already set up. All I need to do now is hone my skills so that my efforts are not totally eclipsed by the extremely high quality material posted here!:)

If you upload from Picasa to one of the free web albums it offers, yes.

I have just bought a half-decent camera so hopefully will be in a position to post a few photos once the air show season gets unber way next year. Can you upload from Picasa? I have only seen references to Flickr and Photobucket, the latter of which I was with a year or two back and did not get on with it at all well.
I should ad that I am not interested in public sharing or the social networking aspect of these sites, I need something simply as a tool to upload to the forum.

I’ve never had any problem with Photobucket, just click on the IMG link, then
paste on here. (but I expect you already know that ?)
Before uploading picture to Photobucket, I reduce them in size to something
like 700 x 700 pixels.

I’ve found IMGur.com to be a good site. It’s as simple as clicking a button, selecting the photo to upload, and then it uploads. It gives you a list of URLs on the right that you can use for certain cases such as uploading to a forum, facebook, etc…
You can make an account there and keep your photos in one database, or you can do it without an account for just a quick upload here and there.

Hi Bill,
Personally I’m surprised you’ve been able to upload directly to the forum, usually you have to go through a hosting site such as Flickr, Photobucket etc. As going direct clogs up the said forum’s server space, by going via a third party so to speak you are only providing a link to the photo on that site if that makes sense!
Forgot to mention in my previous post that the advice I gave applies to if you are running Windows XP as your computers operating system.
Cheers

sometimes logging out then logging back in resets it after clearing pictures

Currently when uploading from Photobucket I find have to delete the http:// bit at the start after [IMG] as it appears twice. Then the photo uploads no problem.
Sorry I should have said I am just uploading from my own PC not useing Flickr etc. I deleted some of those stored on this site. I don’t have Flickr a/c, is this a better way to do it ?

Don’t want this to sound like a Kop-out but I transferred to Flickr about 18 months ago due to compression issues with Photobucket.
I’m not versed in these other sites but maybe right click on the image at the highest resolution you’ve uploaded at and then choose properties and highlight and copy the URL link from there and paste it between the usual pre and post IMG brackets.
Apologies if you have already tried this! Alternatively open a Flickr account for only the photos you want to post, think this is free for a certain amount of shots unless you are a BT Internet/yahoo user and then it’s unlimited.
Cheers

Tim,
I’m using SlickPic and had some trouble myself yesterday.
A little background on this website… it will provide the user with a URL with their “share photo” option, and provides a different URL if I attempt to upload the way I used to with Flickr (using the URL via photo properties). I ended up just posting a link to my Aircraft folder, and that seems to suffice (my hits have gone up quite a bit since my post last evening).
I would guess my problem has something to do with the site itself as most of the posts on here are from either Flickr or Photobucket, but if you have any other suggestions, it would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Rob

Hi Argonaut,
What are you uploading to? Flickr, Photobucket?
I suppose the next question is what/where are you deleting from?
I’ll do my best to help!
Cheers
Tim
