Urgent Computer Help

Hi guys,

My laptop here has been experiencing some unexplained slowdown of late, it is taking forever even to do the simplest of tasks, and I have no idea why. The CPU usage fluctuates all the time and goes up to 100% even if I am not running any applications.

It have virus scanned and done a spyware sweep, I have uninstalled a few programmes to free up some space and scanned my hard drives and there comes back as being no problems.

I have no idea whether this is a hardware or a software problem, but I did have to get the fan replaced a few months ago, and I wonder if this may be a symptom of some components getting fried?

I was thinking of formatting the computer and calling tech support, but if anyone here has any ideas or has experienced anything like this your advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
