Well that doesn’t mean he can’t choose to be a prat sometimes.

A friend of mine bought a laptop from the States from a guy with a similar rating. He was asked to pay by banker’s cheque or something.

So my friend waited and waited. The guy said the delivery had been rejected and that he was trying to resend it. Then he stopped e-mailing, closed down his ebay account and disappeared.

Rule is – don’t use ebay if you can help it.

Okay, I have reported the guy to eBay and Paypal, yet he’s not even responding to that! I’ve sent him a good number of emails, but the same old response:

“According to our records, we have not received the documents. Please advise.”

Getting a bad feeling about this. The credibility of the seller is not in doubt, he’s got over 11,000 at 99.7%.

A330 check your PMs

In my eBay experience this is a genuine email, as the sale emanates from the USA alot of suppliers from there need a verified PayPal account which alot of people in the UK do not have, check your PayPal account for more details, but I concur, if you fax them your credit card or bank statements with your address on make sure you edit out the account details.
Anyway more info in the PM

Paypal gives you an auto insurance cover of about a 1000$ if you bought stuff from ebay. Contact PayPal’s Resolution Center to help you out here.

I got an email from eBay saying it’s probably spam/unsolicited mail.

Don’t know what to make of this. The seller has good feedback, so maybe it’ll work out. 🙁

Yup, definitly sounds like a scam I’m afraid, hard luck mate 🙁

There are various ways to get into contact with ebay through their customer services section, you’ll need to take a look through the site to get the one you need. They usually respond relaitvely quickly, but theres very little they can do, and I doubt you’ll get your money back. However ebay do own PayPal now so there is some hope.

I hope you didnt pay too much! 😮

Thank you.

Could you tell me what eBay’s email address is? And the seller, he isn’t responding anymore. He said that if I fail to do this within two days the order will be cancelled. Whether I get mym oney or not is a different story.

At first glance I agree with SOC, it appears to be a scam. However it appears it IS actually linked to a purchase you made on ebay. What I would suggest you do is email the adress you were given on the auction, or even safer send the seller a message through ebay. Tell them you have recieved this email, it looks very much like a scam, and ask is it actually from them and can you have more details.

Once you get more details post them back on here (not including sensitive information of course) and we’ll see if its a scam or legitimate.

DO NOT send them any personal information at the moment.

Yeah, they’re messing with you. Never, EVER respond to any e-mail like this. If you ever think it might be credible, then call eBay or PayPal. This kind of stuff will never be asked for in e-mail by anyone legitimate.
