Urgent help needed for Shackleton 1722

Good day all,

Last night I spoke to 1722’s god-father. Pottie asked me to try and trace a copy of the landing gear servicing manuals for the main gear as we are having a serious problem with the olio legs on the main gears. The work shops on the base used to maintain the legs but no one knows what happened to the manuals as the aircraft went out of service in ’84

Can all of you please keep an eye open for one as we need to service the leg VERY urgently.

Peter Vallance at Gatwick Aviation Museum www.gatwick-aviation-museum.co.uk has two MR3/3s (WR982 and WR974) and several containers worth of spares. You might want to give him a try as he’s very amenable to helping out other classic aircraft operators/owners for favours/swaps etc.

Thanks guys, i will look into all the info you guys provided ASAP. I forgot to add that its a MK3 with Dowty gear… thanks Steve :p

The biggest problem would be that this manual wasnt used every day by the ground crew but by someone in the hydrolics section on the base of ops and once again, not every day… i really hope we can find the manual as it would be sad to see 1722 grounded due to an olio leg 😮

Have you tried getting in touch with Air Atlantique in Coventry? I believe they’re still operating Mr MacHenry stateside.
