RAF aircraft service history, how ?
Hi forum-readers,
So far I have only collected copies of US, Canadian, French and Netherlands Air Force record cards. I am after one (at least for now) RAF card now. When I remember correctly obtaining this information has changed not that long ago (last year ?). Who can advice in this ?
Regards,
Benno

Obtain the 4n-nnnnn number and then see this page
http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/usafserials.html
and ask for the record cards from the Air Force Historical Research Agency which is located at Maxwell AFB, Alabama , National Air and Space Museum Archives Division.

Alan,
Thanks but the aircraft has never crashed, it just passed into civilian ownership.
It became N99218, formerly B-26K 64-17657 and originally it was born as an A-26C 43-22649

They are also available form the commercial suppliers of accident reports, http://www.aviationarchaeology.com/src/reports.htm#USAF and http://www.accident-report.com/Serials/models.html
If you are interested in aircraft that were used in the European theatre then don’t expect much from the records. I got on for a P-47 that was used by the 78th FG and 495th FTG but its record stopped when it was loaded on to a ship in the US. Only its eventual write off was noted.
