Yes there is, the serial number starts AF 44 – followed by a four digit number. I know the AF is “Airforce” and “44” stands for 1944 but I’m guessing the rest is just applicable to the watch and not who it was issued to.

I would not think so. Based on my experience,
albeit long after WWII, you just signed a hand receipt.
Is there a serial visible in the back of the watch?
If not, no…As it would require the opening of the search to confirm serials.
