US Airways retires 767.

Earlier today I received an email that “something interesting” would leave the paint shop at EIN (Eindhoven) airport. Since EIN is not that far from where I live, I decided to take a visit.

What I saw there was a plane being pulled out the paint shop. A Boeing 767-200 in full Uzbekistan livery. Earlier this week a 767-200 from USAirways had entered. Since the paint shop can only handle one plane that size at a time, it must be assumed that USAirways is retiring at least part of their fleet from active service.

I did not get a good picture of the roll-out as the distance was too large. Did get a very cool picture of the plane (reregistered VP-BUP) flying away. To the best of my knowledge this is even the first photo of it online anywhere!

This is the first Uzbeki 767-200. Uzbekistan Airways already has a number of ‘300 series in their fleet.

It sure looks fresh. Grat photo there mate.

Thanks, it’s a hoax though!

US Airways is not (yet) retiring their 767-200s. Uzbekistan Airways is not taking 767-200s. This was my attempt at an april fools gag.

I think US Airways has quite a few 762’s heading out of service ? Some of those must be originals from the early 80’s ?

Anyone ?

We tend to forget some 767 airframes are a little over twenty years old now
