Nine US military members from RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk are missing after their aircraft crashed in mountains in Albania, the US Air Force said.
It happened on Thursday evening. An USAF spokesman said the status of those on board had not yet been established.
They were on board a US MC-130H aircraft assigned to the 352nd Special Operations Group at RAF Mildenhall.
It was on a night training mission with the Albanian military when it crashed about 65 miles south east of Tirana.
An investigation into the cause of the crash has begun.
