US/Canadian equivelent to the PRO/RAFM?

Just wondering, can anyone point me to what would be the US and Canadian equivalent to our own Public Records Office and RAF Museum?

I’m trying to track down some info on a couple of British aircraft that were shipped to Canada and which a number were subsequently bought by the American air force.

Canada Aviation Museum is the equivalent of the RAFM/Science Museum collections in the UK.

Library & Archives of Canadian hold substantial data also, and equate to the TNA.

I’ve found both very helpful – best visited, of course!

Depending if it’s RCAF or RCN FAA, the RCAF Memorial Museum or the museum at Shearwater may be able to help also. Additionally, there are several very helpful members of various Canadian aviation museums who post here – if you give us a bit for info, you may find people who can answer your question/s and help /advise with research.

For the Americans your first stop should be the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson, AFB, Ohio.
I don’t know who would have those aircraft records…you might try the U.S. Air Force History Center at Maxwell AFB, Alabama.
They keep the aircraft records, IIRC.
