What types could be in operation over hostile airspace? Surely the Global Hawk and U2 are too vulnerable to overfly Syria?
As much as people jumped on the RQ170’s perceived weaknesses when it came down in Iran, it was operating over Pakistan (and possibly Iran) undetected for a significant amount of time……
Also note that Israel has stepped up its intelligence gathering over Syria…
