US forces quit Saudi Arabia

The final detachment of US militarty forces are in the process of vacating the Prince Sultan Air Base. Great news for the US military!

Hopefully they will soon leave South Korea and Germany as well.

Don’t now about Saudi being an axis of evil, do they support terrorism? I think it is about time the US quit Saudi as well as Korea and Japan and Singapore (7th Fleet HQ, right?) and Europe and just about everywhere else they are based.
As far as US bases in Spain are concerned, is there a point? They already have forces based at Aviano in Italy giving them free access to North Africa, Europe, the Middle East and parts of the former Soviet Union so why maintain forces in Spain?

Keltic, don’t the economic benefits of a US base outway some abstract notion of self defence? It’s not as if you’re facing some palpable threat that should necessitate a strong autonomous force, you do have the entirety of NATO behind you.

The units formerly in Saudi Arabia, when did they relocate to? most have gone to the new American bases in Qatar, have they not?

Good news. I have always seen Saudi Arabia as a real axis of evil. Please, why don´t they include Spain and quit too?. Most Spanish mega bases will be enlarged, bad news for an autonomous self defense of this country:confused:
