US Health Reform (at last)

I’ve no time for Obama, and the US pop. is possibly now regretting the novelty vote.

Don’t forget, we in the UK do not have free NHS. Last time I looked I was paying nearly 9% of my hard-earned in that payment on my payslip. That would buy me a fantastic BUPA deal!

High time the US had something approaching the NHS. They have state sponsored fire and police services, why should health be left out of the equation? Oh, I forgot, so that the medical profession can make shed loads of cash, silly me. So why do so many US citizens go to Canada to try to get treatment if a state sponsored health system is so bad?

My experience of socialist states in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union did not fill me with great enthusiasm………….and no one could go onto the streets to express their opinions!

So, the USA goes one step closer to socialism… And most likely one step closer to bankrupcy.

….and who’s responsible for the state of the US economy ? this is the result of unfettered capitalism…. it makes me cringe when you see hear ‘ordinary joes’ in the street gobbing forth with the crass opinions of their overlords in the Republican party/big business.

Divisive legislation is never good legislation. Obama has devoted too much of his valuable time to this, at the expense of other, arguably more important matters, because it he had forced himself into a position from which he could never withdraw without losing face. Democrats have had to be cajoled and bribed to pass it, so that there will remain a strong simmering resentment amongst large numbers of Americans.

My friends in the US are deeply opposed to it, it would be nice to have a rational debate about the bill though, given that the opposition in the media has for the most part been right-wing rhetoric.
