US led coalition against IS

So we can now expect US air strikes on the IS forces, ostensibly to relieve the humanitarian system. Am I going to see heavy bombers loitering overhead for hours or is it a job for drones (I think not)?

Also will they justify further strikes to make the airspace safer for imminent supply drops?
