The Brazilian Navy like so many others has been deeply influenced by the US Navy practices and doctrine in the last 80 odd years. Our regular ocean going exercises are either “Esquadrex” (with the presence of the Fleet Comander in Chief) and Aderex without his presence. I just disci]overed that the Esquadrex is a protuguese adaptation of the English language “Fleetex” exercise, if this deduction is correct what would be the US Nave equivalent to the “Aderex” exercises? What are the other “standard naval exercises”?
Best regards,

Hammer: Yes it should be Photex. Sorry for the typo.

Yeah Saturn, we do use the Fotex (Shouldn’t it be “Photex” in English?) and Passex standard naval exercise names in Brazil. I wonder what other standard exercises there are…

The following two comes to my mind :
1. Fotex: Photo taking exercise
2. Passex: Passing and formation exercise.

Royal Australian Navy calls them Fleet Concentration Periods.
Thus FCP2/05 is the second FCP of 2005.
There are the usual series of exercises such as the Kangaroo, Swordfish, Kakadu and other series of exercises but I believe that FCP is the closest aproximation to what your referring to.
