I have always be fascinated about the this vs. that threads. They are interesting but….
Very rarely can you compare ship a to ship b. Each ship is designed to meet a unique requirement by the owner. It may need more or less of one capacity than another navy. You focus on what your country feels are the important capacities.
If you expect to operate over large territories then endurance will be an issue. If you expect to operate in coastal waters you may forgo endurance and emphasize other characteristics. With the high cost of weapons systems the concept of a general purpose warship is less practical.
AA might not be YOUR priority, while it is elsewhere.
A good example is the Krivak vs. thread. The original Krivak’s were assigned to the KGB border guard force and definitely had a different focus than a standard general purpose frigate.
